Enjoying some sunshine

After the boys’ second nap yesterday we took a walk down to one of the neighborhood playgrounds and enjoyed swinging and playing in the grass. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous lately.

Some pics of the fun:

I thought I was snapping a pic of Noah, when I inadvertently caught him making one of his favorite noises on camera:

Here’s Ez practicing his walking with daddy. He was totally happy about it until I whipped the camera out, so he is a little cranky in the video.

Things i am Excited about – Matt

I thought I would share some things i am personally excited about for the next 12 months.

  • The boys getting more and more active. it is a lot of fun.
  • playing in the dirt (with the kids….right).
  • GORD – the off road Duathalon in March with Stephanie.
  • The date night alone in prescott before the GORD with stephanie ;)  - our first planned night away.
  • Running a half marathon, maybe the Lost Dutchman in March.
  • Camping next summer with the boys.
  • Maybe heading to the beach.
  • Maybe heading to colorado in the summer
  • Nana & Papa Adams coming down in march to see their little grandkids.
  • more time mountain biking.
  • Some work stuff. I know im odd, but i feel some good things happening at factor1
  • Cool tech toys. Stuff is getting cooler and cooler every year, and i know im a geek, but i look forward to it.
  • Scoot bikes?!?! bikes without pedals for toddlers. Maybe they will be ready next fall. maybe not. they are still pretty short.

Just a few random things in my head.

Labor Day Weekend

I must say it was so nice having a three day weekend.  Having an extra day of daddy help was just what I needed!  We had time for some fun activities plus plenty of relaxing and even a few chores.

We ran our first 5k as a family.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day!  We didn’t not celebrate the 4th in a traditional sense today.  The boys cannot stay up late enough for fireworks and all the people we normally would BBQ with are out of town (we weren’t ready to throw our own BBQ yet), but we still had a great day.

Our 4th started out checking out all the water left behind from last night’s storm.  My rain gauge had 1.5 inches in it, which for the desert is a ton!

The baby pool is now disgusting and full!  It was clean and only had about 2 inches of water in it before.

Lake Miramar is full!  (Lake Miramar is our neighborhood name for the retention basin down the street, it has very deep dry wells at the bottom too, so it is impressive when it fills)

After that, it was time to go to the Farmers’ Market!

As you can see it was met with great excitement.

Our bounty from the market.  Most of this is to make more baby food.  Look at those giant sweet potatoes, Ezra will be so happy!

Then we took naps, okay the boys did, Matt and I did stuff around the house.  When nap time was over cousin Abby came over and we went swimming.

This is fun!

Noah really likes to lick towels, blankets, pretty much anything

Thanks to our neighbors who lent us their pool in their absence!  It was a great day for swimming.

One Week Home

We have survived our first week home!  The jet lag plus having two infants made for a challenging week, but thankfully we had lots of help and lots of food.  Here are some highlights from the first week, sorry I am sure more happened but I cannot remember all that much!

  • The first doctor appointments went well.  We came home with NO ear infections and Giardia does not seem to be present.
  • I overheard Matt telling his mom that cloth diapering is just as easy as disposables.  :)

Drying some on the line right now
  • The boys are super chatty and giggly.
  • Noah is super close to sitting up.
  • Ezra loves to sing.
  • Noah loves to jump in the jumper. seriously. he jumped over an hour today (video proof of the fun).
  • We have tried rice cereal and sweet potatoes.  Ezra doesn’t like the cereal, but the sweet potatoes are yummy.
  • Matt is amazing with the boys, he was so worried before, but it seems to come natural to him.
  • The animals are all adjusting well, yes even Tank.

The boys in their bumbos.

7 years

thats how long I have been lucky enough to have such a great wife. Sometimes I still think she is crazy for marrying me. She is pretty much the best wife any man could hope for.

Thanks for an amazing 7 years Stephanie. The next 7 should prove to be even more exciting I am sure!

just for fun, a pic from our wedding.

Snow Day with Dad

On Monday and Tuesday my dad and I went up to my parents’ cabin to see some snow.  When we arrived at the cabin we were disappointed to see the snow was already melted.  Not to worry a quick 20 minute drive up the mountain and there was plenty.  It was the super hard well packed kind, so no snowmen or snowball fights, but we did get to try out sledding.  It was my first time (yes I know this is something you should probably try in your life before you turn 30 and yes I have seen snow before), so we stuck to the small hills, which was a good thing, because it was some fast snow!

Here are a couple of pics, I put the rest of them in the photo gallery:

Abby's Big Arrival

Abby finally made her appearance this morning at 10:35 after a very long night.  She weighed in at 7 pounds 3.5 ounces and 21 inches long.  She is an absolute doll and already keeping Jason busy with the diaper changes!

Here are some pics, I also uploaded a few more in the photo gallery (I will upload more when I get them, hint hint dad):

Colorado Photos

So i finished uploading, sorting and editing the photos. I took a lot. I mean a lot, like 500+. I bought myself a new (to me) digital camera a few weeks ago. A Canon Rebel XT Digital SLR. I have been enjoying getting back into the habit of using the full manual mode and exploring film speeds, shutter speed, and artistic photography.

So blah blah blah, on with the pics.

I added 28 or so to the photos page, found here.

If you want to see even more pics I uploaded a lot to my flicker account

Garden of the Gods

Old town Pueblo (I like old buildings for some reason).

Also, Side note I forgot something on my trip highlights post. The Vibe got 40mpg. Yep. 40. I normally only get about 30 around the valley. I have peaked at 34 in the past. But we averaged 38 on the trip overall, and for one whole tank, 40. I was pretty excited.

vacation & road trippin.

I love road trips. For some reason 13+ hours in a car doesn’t really bother me, as long as Stephanie is with me. Sure sitting that long wears on me. But I LOVE the time we spend together, We enjoy loading up the ipod with great music of past and present, great fun reminiscing of yesteryear, the deep god conversations we have, the odd conversations we have- were we some how created a non-profit (more on that later, maybe), overall I think I just enjoy the fun with great company, no matter what the destination.

Colorado Rocked. They had record heat, but its 20 – 30 degrees cooler still. So mornings and evenings outside were perfect.

***Photos Coming Soon. I have been up since 3am AZ time, and am too tired to finish editing all of my 500+ photos I took (the new camera rocks!).

We enjoyed time with my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins.

Thursday & Friday were spent with my parents, decompressing from the ride up, and general around town fun.

Saturday We headed up to Castlewood Canyon Park. The site of the second largest dam burst / flooding in colorado history. It was a great hike. and we had fun playing in the rocks and water.

Sunday we drove home from Elizabeth, CO (near Castle Rock) the back way, which yielded some fun pics.

Monday morning Stephanie and I were able to break away and hike some trails around Garden of the gods. I have been there hundreds of times as a kid, and I still love going. This was the best year so far. Usually we are plagued by clouds, but this year was a bight, warm sunny day.

Tuesday we hung out with my grandparents, and toured around old town pueblo. I really dig old buildings and houses for some reason.

By The Way, I think Stephanie was getting tired of all the photo shoots.

We had fun, but also glad to have routines, our bed, and our furry kids back. Even if it is 200° out in the valley.

Afternoon at the Ballpark

On Thursday my little brother and I took my dad to a baseball game to celebrate Father’s Day/his Birthday.  We had a lot of fun and thankfully not a lot of sun as the roof was closed and the a/c was on.  We also enjoyed way more calories than a human should consume.  Oh and it was camp day, so we were joined by a few thousand kids.  None of us had ever heard the ballpark that noisy.  Overall it was a great day and wonderful way to celebrate with just the three of us.  Here are some pictures from the game.

We even convinced dad to scalp some extra tickets we had, we asked the cop sitting there on his bike what was legal first.  Good thing too, apparently you need a permit, but don’t worry there was a scalper with a permit able to do it for us.

Our View

This last one is what the temperature gauge in the car said when we were stuck on top of the parking garage for about 15 minutes.  It was hot!
