Grocery Store Faux Pas

Today I committed the ultimate grocery store faux pas, something I hadn’t done in a very long time and work very hard at not doing. I went to the grocery store HUNGRY! It was bad. I bought things I never buy chips, pretzels (I wanted to go back and find chocolate after this so I could make dipped pretzels for people and us, of course), and carmel dip (at least this one was to go with the apples I bought and really for Matt). I had to talk myself out of buying so many other things. I wanted a frozen pizza! I haven’t had one in years, luckily I talked myself out of it. I wanted pretty much everything I saw, luckily I did have a little self restraint and didn’t buy it all. Later I discovered a granola bar in the bottom of my purse (I keep it there for emergencies like this) and had I noticed it sooner, I would have saved myself some money. What are some grocery store faux pas that you have fallen victim to?

green bathroom

Instead of decorating for christmas, we painted. Our second bathroom will be tom & jerry’s, so we need it fun. We found the greatest green paint.I think its even called leap frog green.

I also must say that Wow stephanie posts entirely too much, Or is it that I dont post enough?

Buy Nothing Day

I am not against shopping in general, but I do think Thanksgiving weekend shopping has gotten out of hand. This should be a time to celebrate and relax with your families, not spend hours in line trying to find that perfect gift. Some stores are even open on Thanksgiving now, which makes me sad for their employees and for the people willing to buy on these days. Is their family that bad to be around that they would rather go shopping? Please unless it is an absolute emergency never buy anything on a holiday. Everyone should be given the chance to celebrate with their families. Obviously people in emergency medical jobs will have to work, I can’t tell people to stop getting hurt or sick on holidays that is out of their control. My fondest memories of this weekend are eating, playing games, and decorating for the Christmas holidays. I would not have those found memories if my mom had gone out every Black Friday in search of the perfect gifts. In fact, those perfect gifts would probably long be forgotten. Please join me this year for Buy Nothing Day and do something fun with your family instead.

Wow I missed a lot

If you are thinking this right now and you just happened to remember to check our blog, you must not subscribe.

I know of two ways to subscribe to a blog (there are probably more, but I only know of two so that is the info you are getting).

The first is to subscribe through our blog to get emails of updates.

But if you don’t want a bunch of emails filling up your inbox or you have several blogs you read, google reader is a great way to go. I now use google reader, I will say I was hesitant at first when Matt introduced it to me, but it is relatively easy to use and helps keep me in the loop. Of course, if you use google reader you actually have to remember to go to google reader to check for updates.

Please feel free to share other ways to subscribe to blogs.

Daylight Saving Time

I experienced a first today. I had to fall back, I have never actually experience a daylight saving time (dst) change. I lived in Arizona my whole life and hadn’t managed to be out of state for the change until today. I personally think dst is a silly thing. If you like your sunlight extended at the end of your day instead of the morning just change it permanently, then you won’t have to worry about changing all your clocks and adjusting your sleep schedule. Standard Time is getting shorter because Congress keeps extending dst, they say it saves money on energy bills, and apparently it is slightly less effective in the winter, thus the change back to Standard Time. I also heard on the news the other night that pedestrians are more likely to get hit by vehicles after the switch back to Standard Time, they said drivers had trouble adjusting to the darker evenings. At any rate I am glad I live in Arizona and do not have to mess with this silly system.

Pelicans

I spent the afternoon at the beach watching the pelicans dive for their food and one finally came semi-close enough for me to get on video. Sorry, it is not the best video, but I got it. You see the pelican dive in the water and he doesn’t come up for 40 seconds. Maybe he surfaced before that but I didn’t see him until he took off. At any rate I think it is pretty cool.

The Beach

I love the beach! It is one of my favorite places to be. I love the cool ocean breeze, the sound of the waves crashing, the feeling of warm sand on my feet, and watching the birds dive into the water.

While Matt was at his conference all day I hung out at the beach. I decided to walk since parking your car at the beach costs money, and the beach was only about half a mile a way. I went this morning even though it was kind of gloomy out and back again after lunch when the sun came out. Believe it or not it was warmer this morning. I pretty much had the beach to myself, I guess November isn’t beach season.

There were a lot of sand dollars this morning.

A video of the waves crashing for all the people who are like me and just love to hear it.

Matt hopefully will get to go down to the beach with me this evening for a sunset walk. Don’t worry he is enjoying his conference and learning a ton.

Happy November!

November is my favorite month of the year for a few reasons. My favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, is in November. Is there really a better holiday? You get to eat a ton of food, watch the Cowboys, remember everything you are thankful for and lets face it we have a lot to be thankful for, pumpkin pie, and no presents are exchanged. Fall weather usually hits Arizona by November, this year is an exception to that, still in the 90s, but that’s okay. By November both college and the NFL seasons are going strong with plenty of games on each weekend and basketball season starts.

What else can I say, I love this time of the year!

no more pink

so i’m ready for this pink color scheme to be done. November 1 the site will go back to the clean crisp white look. Maybe I will build a new theme. im kind of bored of this one. We’ll see what Stephanie says about me wasting time blogging, and building new blog themes when I have letters and autobiographies to write.

Cute Puppies

These precious boys were found abandoned and dropped off at the fire station on Monday afternoon and we have had them ever since. They are keeping me super busy! They are a ton of fun. We gave them their first set of shots yesterday. If anyone in Arizona is interested please contact us, because we cannot keep them.
