Home Study (EEK!)

We got the word last night that our first home study appointment is this Friday afternoon. Now I was fully expecting this to happen after Thanksgiving, and let’s just say there was some stuff I planned to get done around the house next weekend. I know I have enough time to make my house presentable, but there is that part of me that wants it to be perfect, I clearly do not have time to make that happen. I think I am okay with that, I have to be. We didn’t have time to do anything last night after we got the call, because we already had plans, and we have plans again tonight. Seriously, we never have plans two nights in a row except for the one week we have our home study. We have our appointments at the doctor this morning, hopefully that doesn’t suck two hours out of our day like usual.

By the way unusual happening this morning. It is raining!

Don't fret over the homestudy visit. My dog molested my SW and one of my cats climbed into her tote bag full of paperwork. She just laughed...and other than a quick house tour and counting smoke detectors, we mostly just sat and talked. So much for rushing out and buying a fire extinguisher the night before!

I'm sure the homestudy will be no problem. We are with CHI also.Getting ready to send in our dossier. I hope you have a wonderful journey.

Actually thanks to the nice chat I had with your wife last week about your home study and what to expect, I am do just fine in my opinion. I have not totally flipped out yet or decided that the tile needed to be scrubbed by hand or anything else crazy for that matter. No tears from stress, no yelling at the husband, and no desperate call to my mom. We will see how tomorrow goes!

Thanks Bill and Sandi for being a great source of information and support for the adoption process.

Having been through two home studies at this point, I can say that your house doesn't have to be immaculate. So I'm sure that you'll be just fine.

That being said, if someone had told me what I just told you prior to that first home study, I wouldn't have been reassured or convinced. After that first one, we could have sold our home to a couple with a newborn baby and they wouldn't have had to do any childproofing. :-)
